I'm going to have to revise my thoughts on Iger and the Disney studios. I thought after Eisner that the direction had changed from leftist pandering, but after holding "The Path to 9/11" back, the Eco-prop messages in "Wall-E", and Spike Lee's latest it's clear that they're still using Eisner's political compass. Bringing in the politicised Clooney, who a significant fraction of the audience would prefer to avoid is just another indication. But hey, who cares about profits when you can make a statement.

I can see it if Clooney plays the Ranger as a stumbling drunk and it's really Tonto who's the brains of the outfit.

Otheriwse, there's now way in hell I'll see this movie.

Depp would be a cool Tonto. If he can pull off Jack Sparrow, I'm kinda convince he can pull anything off.

Clooney, however, yuck. Unless of course the Lone Ranger is supposed to look like a jackhole whilst smirking and bobbing his head incessantly.

I got a question about the Lone Ranger & Tonto.

How come the white dude had to hide is identity, but the Indian could wander around without a care in the world?

Remember George C. Looney as "Batman". Even Val Kilmer was better! He was excellent in "O Brother..." because his smarmy, greasy haired good looks ARE those of a two-bit
crook. Fact is, you can't clean him up. He always looks like a grease-ball. C. Looney on a horse! What a hoot. How're we supposed to tell him from the real horse's ass?

So far as Depp as Tonto -- he's good enough to pull it off -- but just imagine the righteous howling that's gonna set up when an authentic native American (see how PC I can be) is passed over for the role!

James Caviezel would make a better Lone Ranger.

George C. Looney is, like Madonna, quickly becoming toxic when mixed with the silver screen. H'wood might give him awards and accolades, but the public won't pay to see him.
