Don’t lump in Brazil with Venezuela, or Bolivia. While the current government is leftist, it is part of the responsible left (Along with Chile and Uruguay). It was actually a close-run thing. Lula ran as a hard leftist his first three times and lost. In 2002 he turned moderate, but it was unknown whether he would govern as one. After taking office, he essentially followed the orthodox economic path laid out by his predecessor, the centrist Fernando Henrique Cardoso. Budget surplusses, low inflation, moderate (but necessary, in my opinion) welfare spending, and a marked lacked of populism and demagogery, all resulting in years of economic growth and democractic and social stability. When Lula finishes his term in 2010, that will have meant 16 straight years of uninterrupted democractically-elected governments (8 years of FHC and 8 years of Lula).

It is our own fault, WE THE PEOPLE don’t hold these incompetents like Obama and the Chicago machine’s feet to the fire. Until the shit hits the fan in the next four years nothing will change. He isn’t even sworn in yet and this thing could blow up into a Watergate of dirty Chicago and Cook County politics trying to invade Washington.

They will have those exceptions that break box office records, but how many of those do we have compare to the great films with political messages get out there and make the kind of money the PASSION did?

Liberals are notorious of selling product that no one wants to buy. This is why the newspapers are closing down, this is why they want to nationalize our cars, banking, health and anything they can get their greedy hands on.
