Jack Marinoon 29 Sep 2008 at 8:29 am 1I have a better idea, let them make a movie about the Bell Brothers and call it DING and DONG!
Mighty Skipon 29 Sep 2008 at 8:31 am 2I was thinking Cheech and Chong might be more to their liking.
Tom Aricoon 29 Sep 2008 at 8:32 am 3And who will the bad guys be?
Capitalists, Christians, Republicans, Corporate executives, Global Warming Deniers???
Or All of the Above.
Troyon 29 Sep 2008 at 8:36 am 4Why do I envision blue nipples and leather codpiece? and also that dipshit look on his face.
billypaintbrushon 29 Sep 2008 at 8:42 am 5why you smirk, kemosobby?
Stephanieon 29 Sep 2008 at 8:46 am 6HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!
Dirty Harry's Momon 29 Sep 2008 at 8:55 am 7Hi Ho Silver and away! I love it!
PerfectTommyon 29 Sep 2008 at 9:02 am 8I believe this song will form the basis of the screenplay:

Pedersonon 29 Sep 2008 at 9:09 am 9I kind of assume that they’re going for something campy, given the casting.
Carolynon 29 Sep 2008 at 9:10 am 10Opening scene. Masked man fires the silver bullet into his own chest.
Okay, now I’ll watch the damned film.
Stephanieon 29 Sep 2008 at 9:18 am 11This almost looked too stupid to contemplate.
Morganon 29 Sep 2008 at 9:28 am 12What is this world coming to? Now I’m getting the phrase “the metrosexual Lone Ranger” in my head.
Dark Edenon 29 Sep 2008 at 9:28 am 13Oh I pray they make this just to see them lose another few hundred million dollars.
Morganon 29 Sep 2008 at 9:29 am 14I’m having trouble here with the comments. Every time I try to publish a comment, I don’t get anything. I don’t know what’s going on.
Danielon 29 Sep 2008 at 9:32 am 15I was actually thinking of seeing that when it came out. Now?
Fuggedaboutid!
Growltigeron 29 Sep 2008 at 9:33 am 16Remember George C. Looney as “Batman”. Even Val Kilmer was better! He was excellent in “O Brother…” because his smarmy, greasy haired good looks ARE those of a two-bit
crook. Fact is, you can’t clean him up. He always looks like a grease-ball. C. Looney on a horse! What a hoot. How’re we supposed to tell him from the real horse’s ass?
So far as Depp as Tonto — he’s good enough to pull it off — but just imagine the righteous howling that’s gonna set up when an authentic native American (see how PC I can be) is passed over for the role!
James Caviezel would make a better Lone Ranger.
George C. Looney is, like Madonna, quickly becoming toxic when mixed with the silver screen. H’wood might give him awards and accolades, but the public won’t pay to see him.
Danielon 29 Sep 2008 at 9:41 am 17I got a question about the Lone Ranger & Tonto.
How come the white dude had to hide is identity, but the Indian could wander around without a care in the world?
Kiton 29 Sep 2008 at 9:47 am 18What!
There are no American Indian actors to play Tonto?!?!
mjkon 29 Sep 2008 at 9:48 am 19Depp would be a cool Tonto. If he can pull off Jack Sparrow, I’m kinda convince he can pull anything off.
Clooney, however, yuck. Unless of course the Lone Ranger is supposed to look like a jackhole whilst smirking and bobbing his head incessantly.
Enderon 29 Sep 2008 at 10:05 am 20I can see it if Clooney plays the Ranger as a stumbling drunk and it’s really Tonto who’s the brains of the outfit.
Otheriwse, there’s now way in hell I’ll see this movie.
Jon S.on 29 Sep 2008 at 10:06 am 21Personally, I love the mask done in Microsoft Paint. He certainly is a PC.
Kon 29 Sep 2008 at 10:08 am 22I’m going to have to revise my thoughts on Iger and the Disney studios. I thought after Eisner that the direction had changed from leftist pandering, but after holding “The Path to 9/11″ back, the Eco-prop messages in “Wall-E”, and Spike Lee’s latest it’s clear that they’re still using Eisner’s political compass. Bringing in the politicised Clooney, who a significant fraction of the audience would prefer to avoid is just another indication. But hey, who cares about profits when you can make a statement.
Mighty Skipon 29 Sep 2008 at 10:16 am 23Brokeback Ranger?
EPorvaznikon 29 Sep 2008 at 10:30 am 24>>There are no American Indian actors to play Tonto?!?!>>
Lou Diamond Phillips — Chavez, Chavez, MFers!!!
ArchiCrashon 29 Sep 2008 at 11:38 am 25I have a hard time seeing Clooney as a guy who belongs in the West. But I guess they can do wonders with makeup these days…
