VP Debate Moderator Will Financially Profit From Obama Victory

How many books will Gwen Ifill sell should Obama lose?

The conflict of interest here is stunning. The book’s set for release on January 20th, inauguration day. She’ll obviously lose money in the event of a McCain win.

The mainstream media isn’t even trying to shield their bias anymore. They’re “all in” on this one.

The good news is that this is it, I’m officially numb when it comes to this stuff.

They’re all out to get us.

It’s just gotten to the point where it’s just laughable.

It’s like somebody getting beaten to death, and after awhile you’re almost numb to the abuse.

  3. Jillon 30 Sep 2008 at 10:56 pm 3

And one more thing. This is the gal who slipped up one time when she was working on another network and said something like “We aren’t in danger yet…” meaning “we” as in the democrats, including herself without realizing it. Freudian slip. Rush caught it and has been joking about it ever since.

Now keep in mind the democrats wouldn’t even do a debate on Fox in their primaries. Now we’re suppose to not be bothered by a hugely partisan moderator in the general

  4. soulpileon 30 Sep 2008 at 11:18 pm 4

Not like this came as a surprise. She’s on PBS for goodness sake.

Still, you’d think they would find someone who at least LOOKS objective, not someone who is obviously out-in-the-open in the tank for Obama.

stop taking this serious, this crap is going out to fly over country. Hard working jewish and christian conservative americans are watching this nonsense. This guy is going DOWN big time. He is riding his wave right now and the more the left feels its in the bag, the more arrogant they get with the ideas they want to do. He himself will tell us more of the commie rules he wants us to live by. The media will attack Pailn, McCain senseless, this is typical American politics, this is what makes it fun and one hell of a ride. This is about total power of three branches of government. The last time the Dems had that is when JFK was in office and LBJ.
Read how it was in the 1700s & 1800s and what they said about each other.

thomas they are out to get us but only in their dreams. They don’t have the guts to cross the line the commies did and nazis did. Besides they want to own our income and property rights. However we are all armed and if you are not armed, its easy to get armed. The worst they can do is make laws we can’t smoke in our closets and they called us bigots.

This is a leftist wet dream, to have a black man in the white house that will give us anything we want. I wonder if we can asked for universal car insurance and free viagra.

This is a comedy and it will play out until Nov 4 then a madness will fall over the liberals and we will see how they act we will act accordingly.

I see where the Obamajugend Youtube vid has been pulled.

Seems it’s astroturf origins have been made known and like good Maoist guerrillas they have “hit” and now run.

  7. abeon 01 Oct 2008 at 12:00 am 7

She can’t afford to be unbalanced–just like Jim Leher. Did you guys think he was unfair?

Good god though, I see how this will play out. Should Miss Palin fail, you’re going to blame Miss Iflil for being tough on her.

After all, any question Palin can’t answer must be a “gotcha” question, right?

Incidentally–I’m not expecting Palin to get blown out by Biden in the debate. People have built this up way too much. Nearly every time Palin has said something remarkably stupid it was unexpecteded. Now that many expect her to f-up in the debate, she’ll do fine. That’s just how life works.

Damn shame Palin’s hair is the wrong color — you could be calling her a dumb blonde by now… or are you reserving that for Cindy McCain?

Abe has one tune at this point and he’s going to play it till kingdom come. It doesn’t matter that half the people here have already chastised Palin and McCain for her lackluster performance. It doesn’t matter that in the two previous debates she’s kicked the crap out of her opponents. It doesn’t matter that, whatever her performance in interviews might be, her actual accomplishments in the job are still more than Lightworker and Biden combined. It doesn’t matter that Abe can’t seem to discern been Ms. and Mrs.. He isn’t looking for a logical argument. He’s looking to cast his net and snag a response, so that he can continue to troll. That’s it. Quit giving him the dignity of a response.

  14. abeon 01 Oct 2008 at 12:35 am 14

Not a single gaffe Biden has ever made is anywhere as bad–or as damaging–as Palin’s performance these last couple of weeks.

  15. abeon 01 Oct 2008 at 12:47 am 15

x5–I’m not “telling” myself anything, but just rubbing a painful truth in your face. Sarah Palin is a joke. And she acts like it. After all, someone who attends 5 colleges(or however many it was) in six years–while studying journalism, one of the easiest majors–is probably not academically gifted. Her unforgivably embarrassing performances of late only attest to the fact. It’s a very sad thing, and I pity all those who had such high hopes for her.

When I read the transcript of Palin’s interview with Hugh Hewitt I thought for the first time we were in big trouble. Then I listened to it. I’m back to cautiously optimistic. Maybe it IS style over substance but she came across pretty good.

  18. Conan O'Lenomanon 01 Oct 2008 at 3:58 am 18

I will never look at presidential politics the same after this year. The jackals in the media have succeeded in making me completely cynical. Maybe that’s a good thing.

  19. Johnny Ed's Babyon 01 Oct 2008 at 5:18 am 19

Ifill can’t be biased - she works for PBS.

PBS can’t be biased since it is paid for by us taxpayers, right?

Oh, wait. Doesn’t Bill Moyers work for PBS? And Tavis Smiley? And Charlie Rose? etc. etc. etc.

  20. shunha7878on 01 Oct 2008 at 5:40 am 20

Does anyone else think Ifill has already given Biden a list of the Question. The left know Biden could say anything, and I don’t see them taking a chance.

  21. mjkon 01 Oct 2008 at 6:14 am 21

I’m bored with the VP debate stuff already. But then again, I’ve washed my hands of all election coverage until November 4th.

If Obama gets in, then we deserve the Obama Youth and completely asinine economic and foreign policies. I’m kind of hoping he loses so that I can watch the devotees have a collective stroke. I believe it’s called “schadenfraude.”

  22. Enderon 01 Oct 2008 at 6:24 am 22

I love love LOVE when lefty trolls come in here and say things like, “If she fails it’ll be Ifill’s fault, right?” when ALL ALONG the vast majority of us have been saying she will pass or fail on her own merits, but that we’re cautiosly optimistic.

Only the Left looks for others to blame for their own shortcomings.

    Wusses.

  23. Johnny Ed's Babyon 01 Oct 2008 at 6:29 am 23

Palin should start every answer “Well Gwen, since you have written such a laudatory book on Senator Obama, you know that this issue is …..”

By the end of the night people will be so sick of her book she’ll have trouble selling it to her mother.

  24. Stephanieon 01 Oct 2008 at 6:45 am 24

    Ender,
Its easy leftists cannot accept their own failings. I do believe its the fact most of them haven’t actually gone and talked to a priest, rabbi or pastor and they go and get hugs and mommy love from piss poor psychologists who tell them its all the other persons fault you are OK. Which of course is bullshit. Its like blaming everyone else for a persons poor self esteem. I had no idea I was responsible for the some welfare mom’s selfesteem. These are the same people who give trophys to every kid out there for playing the game. Yeah thats how life is..everything is fair uh huh. THen when they discover that not everything they do is rewarded or that well some people just don’t like them, they lose a job it totally messes them up. The left certainly has made some useless human beings.
The Special Olympics is for developmentally challenged children. Kids who are downs syndrome and have other issues. There is a reason these kids get trophys for being there is because its a win for them to be there. THey deserve every thing we can give them including the chance to fly on their own and to know joy! For the rest who are born with perfect everything…you win, you lose you tie all on your own damned merits. Let me just perfectly clear so even Abe the leftist troll gets it…..you are responsible for everything you do. Unless you are the victim of a robbery, or other crime you are the captain of your ship and you sink or sail on your own merits. No one else is responsible for you. Get it?
So if you live or starve it makes no difference to me.

And no worries about the polls. None. OK? Mac gained on Obama. He will continue to do it.

  25. Bennett Marcoon 01 Oct 2008 at 6:46 am 25

I’m hoping like hell that events will force Ifill to change the title of her book to “Obama — What Happened?”

  26. Dirty Harry's Momon 01 Oct 2008 at 7:02 am 26

Think about it, my friends. She will sell MORE books if Obama loses. Has anyone who has written comment on this forum actually looked at the title and description of the contents of this book? http://tinyurl.com/3vp4ce

Believe it or not, Obama will not be the last black person to enter American politics, and chances are, should he lose this time, he might run again in four years–maybe as Hillary’s running mate this time.

  27. tranquilitason 01 Oct 2008 at 7:02 am 27

Well, if Obama-god gets elected the ones who elected him deserve him BUT I DON’T and neither do my kids.

His name is JC Watts…not only one of the greatest names ever to set foot on an Oklahoma Football field but one of the most popular names in OK politics. He was the Republican House Conference Chair…African American…..

His name is Michael Steele, first African American Deputy Gov. of Maryland and now teh RNC Chair…….

So your point? I am not doing a we have them to thing either. Just pointing out the obvious.

    Oh one more
Angela McGlowan, writer, pundit, she could tear Michelle Obama apart and smile the whole time…African American Lady from Washington DC. A beauty contestent to.

Star Parker, writer, commentator, activisit. She wrote the book Uncle Sam’s Plantation. A former crack addict. African American.

    Larry Elder African American Conservative

    Thomas Sowell African American Conservative….

  29. Stephanieon 01 Oct 2008 at 7:20 am 29

Oh and they all got the respect they deserved because they actually understood Martin Luther King’s not the color of your skin but the content of your character. If only Zeus understood what that meant. But hey if you don’t vote for Zeus your a racist. COOL! OK call me a racist. I am not but hey whatever makes the denizens of the White Guily coalition feel GOOD about their own stupidity.

    MLK voted Republican…

  31. Zundfolgeon 01 Oct 2008 at 7:30 am 31

Thomas Sowell and Walter E Williams are probably two of the greatest American minds of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Simple fact is that Republicans/Conservatives abandoned their racism LONG ago and embraced the notion of color blind society (which used to be considered a liberal position).

Its clear that Democrats/Liberals have not.

I was watching some old footage of a congressional hearing about Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae that took place a couple of years ago (the one where the Democrats attack the Republicans for daring to say unkind words about their Freddy and Fanny). I noticed that all the Democrats but one were black. Clearly they saw the attempt to regulate sub prime loans as a racist plot when it is THEY that are the racists.

No sir, Sarah Palin will not get a fair shot from this black liberal. Not one bit. But I do believe it will be bad enough that the people will see through it.

I still believe the McCain campaign should lodge some sort of formal complaint or protest up front.

  32. TROon 01 Oct 2008 at 7:32 am 32

This is a good thing. It proves bias ahead of time and is a built-in response should Sarah get slammed with an unfair question. I mean it’s not like any MSM moderator would be fair to her after all.

The question is will Ifill do a full-disclosure delcaration at the beginning of the debate. I doubt it.

  33. Publius804on 01 Oct 2008 at 7:35 am 33

Maybe Sean Hannity can moderate the next presidential debate?!! This is such bullsh*t, how the McCain camp ever agreed to this is beyond me. Once elected wait until Hussein starts trying to stifle political dissent through the fairness doctrine - the worst is yet to come. All those Hussein backers - snap out of it, you need to be deprogrammed, you are a member of a cult.

I recently had dinner with a professor from Harvard Law. He is a proud liberal Obama supporter, and was an advisor to Hillary. Even he acknowledges that the media is in the tank for The One.

  36. Danielon 01 Oct 2008 at 7:41 am 36

I read the book’s summary DH’s Mom, and I wasn’t impressed. Notice the subtitle: “Politics and Race in The Age of Obama“.

“Age of Obama”?!? A guy who forced everyone out of his state senate race so he would run unopposed, who effectively ran unopposed for the US Senate, who a mere 143 days into his US Senate service decided to run for POTUS, who has ties to an unrepentant American terrorist, who has been part of a racist, anti-American church, who took hundreds of thousands of dollars from Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac lobbyists and worked to stop legislation that would have put the brakes on an out of control mortgage industry, who sued banks to force them to make unwise loans to people who couldn’t afford them, etc., etc., etc.

And now he’s the touchstone, “The One” for whom this is “The Age” for black Americans? I don’t think so.

And do you think J.C. Watts, Michael Steele, Clarence Thomas, or any other conservative who happens to be black is considered part of “The Age of Obama”? No, because they aren’t really “black”. They’re just a bunch of “Uncle Toms”. They are considered by folks on your side of the argument traitors to their race.

  37. Kiton 01 Oct 2008 at 7:46 am 37

So how, one must wonder, will the abes of the world react if the “airhead” shows up the oh-so-experienced-in-the-mysterious-ways-of-the-world Senator from Delaware. Which she could do, one must ponder, by pointing out things like: as Foreign Relations Chair he had access to the same intelligence as the GWB and supported the war he now says is a mistake, or that he pushed for a surge before it we decided to surge at which point he opposed it, or that he was the author of the incredibly dopey “break Iraq into three sectarian parts” non-plan. There is just so much to work with, even for an airhead who can’t be trusted to get put her heels on the correct feet and who governs what - I’m sure abe would agree - is the least important state in the union - if it’s really a state at all!

NR has a fabulous piece on bin Biden in the latest edition. Favorite part: Joe’s first reaction after 9/11 was that it might be a good time to send Iran $200 million. (The hair plugs had already started drilling down into his brain, apparently…)

  41. Bonnie_on 01 Oct 2008 at 8:17 am 41

I don’t understand how any reasoning person could watch the ABC interview with Sarah Palin and come to any conclusion about her based on that.

This is like watching a Leni Refenstahl film and being convinced that Nazis are really cool. Of course ABC news is going to cut and paste the interview to make sure that Republicans look bad and Sarah Palin looks like an idiot.

I could cut and paste the most brilliant Reagan speech and make him look like a stuttering fool. Michael Moore did it with Charlton Heston in his loathsome “Bowling for Columbine” video.

So don’t tell me about the “terrible” ABC interview Sarah gave, because I’ll ban you from watching any Leni Refenstahl films. You might start thinking Nazis are really cool, and that’s just embarrassing.

  42. Moon 01 Oct 2008 at 8:46 am 42

Instead of freaking out here, why don’t we do something constructive and contact them? Info. is here. If we’re not willing to take five minutes to DO something about this, then maybe we should all be quiet.

    1) Good point.

    2) Thanks for the link.

    3) The footage of Ifill at the RNC is really disturbing.

    4) An e-mail from yours truly has been sent to Ms. Brown at the debate commission.

    Cheers,

    Rich

  44. wanketteon 01 Oct 2008 at 9:22 am 44

I just sent an email to Brown, too. The phone number Michelle Malkin links to has been busy for the last hour.

I asked Ms. Brown if the commission was also planning to run a pre-debate ad suggesting that November 4th be cancelled, since he already has a seal, a plane, and a portrait.

I also mailed back the Tyra Banks-as-Michelle-Obama photo spread to Harper’s Bazaar. In shreds.

  45. rrpjron 01 Oct 2008 at 9:26 am 45

So quit complaining. Turn it into an opportunity. Have Palin point it out. Call it out. Lay it out in the open, for once. Take it to them, for once. What is this unwritten rule of sh&t-swallowing decorum? Is conflict of interest suddenly exempt from conversation because it’s the media? Get radical. Or lose.

This is it, McCain. America is on the line. You’ve got 30 days to save it. You gonna play by their rules and lose, or your rules and at least go down fighting?

  46. trzupron 01 Oct 2008 at 9:28 am 46

  47. PerfectTommyon 01 Oct 2008 at 9:34 am 47

I just sent an e-mail to Ms. Brown suggesting that Ms. Ifill open the debate with full disclosure about her upcoming book. What a great opportunity for promotion!
As a bonus, she could come out and say that she enters the debate as a Democrat partisan because her PBS salary depends on a full government tit.
If this happened, no matter what happened in the debate, I’d be happy.

  48. Stephanieon 01 Oct 2008 at 9:40 am 48

I tried calling the debate commission and couldn’t get through. This witch MUST recuse herself.
SHE MUST! IF she doesn’t the whole debate becomes irrelevant.

  49. Growltigeron 01 Oct 2008 at 9:42 am 49

So who expected Ifills to be nonpartisan anyway?

We just may have had our last real election in 2006 when we stupidly gave the Dems control of the House and Senate. Anyone who doesn’t understand what Leftists do with power hasn’t read the history of the 20th century. Once they’re in power, whether via a shooting coup or a bloodless coup, they do not take their jackboots off the neck of the governed.

Because we stupidly put our faith in the Internet and talk radio and did not organize a full throated, full out, youknowhats to the wall boycott of anyone who advertised in or on propaganda media, we deserve what we get.

  50. Moon 01 Oct 2008 at 9:47 am 50

Excuse the above post. I was just so damned mad over Ifills being allowed to “moderate” the debate that I shot off my mouth without thinking. Calmer now.

If Ifills does not fully disclose her book, then Governor Palin should do it for her. To hell with the flack she’ll get from the partisan propaganda media. She’d get that anyway.

  53. Moon 01 Oct 2008 at 10:02 am 53

How anyone can read this, vote for Obama and proclaim they are a champion of free speech is either stupid or a liar. Although Obama supporters do seem to occupy both camps at the same time quite nicely.

  56. BillBoneheadon 01 Oct 2008 at 10:23 am 56

And what lesson did we learn today? The same one that we’ve been learning for quite a while now:
Everything that Liberals (oops, sorry Progressives) do is good and everything that Conservatives do (drat, meant to say Fascists) do is evil.

Ok, Now I have to use one of Prof. Umbridge’s magic pens and write 100 times: “Progressives are good, Conservatives are evil”

The burden of proof will be on you guys to demonstrate any bias from Ifill–merely pointing out her book, should Palin flub the debate, will probably not convince the American public that Palin had the deck stacked against her (especially considering Palin’s performance these past weeks.)

  61. rrpjron 01 Oct 2008 at 12:05 pm 61

That’s all right, Abe. The “burden of proof” is always on conservatives, just as presumptions of guilt are. We know what disadvantages we labor under. While leftists prissily refuse to show up to debates on Fox News, we enter all battles willingly, knowing the odds.

I have no objections to Ifill moderating. I think it’s a terrific opportunity for Palin. The question for you: how would you feel about the Hugh Hewitt hypothetical, i.e., a conservative with a pending book on Palin’s triumphs moderating?

  62. whiskeyon 01 Oct 2008 at 12:13 pm 62

This is more evidence of the McCain campaign monumental stupidity.

Everyone ought to know that the entire media worships Obama like a god. Greta Van Susteren reports the McCain campaign was shocked to find this out … which could have been discovered by five minutes of googling.

What the heck is going on?

McCain is just inept. Incompetent. “Bipartisan” stupid.

Foreign money (likely from terrorists) pouring in to Obama’s campaign? Media in the tank? Unwillingness to take the fight right to Obama?

McCain ought to demand a new moderator, or his own two of Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh.

Going forward, barring a miracle, we are going to LOSE this election, big. I spoke with my local Republican coordinator yesterday — PA is out of reach because of massive fraud in Philly, and PC mandates we not challenge the vote fraud.

Republicans need a new system of candidates, and organization, that challenge voter fraud, illegal donations, media bias/in-the-tank, and the whole corrupt system of PC/Multiculturalism EVERY DAY. Not just election day. It’s already too late because we allowed Dems/Media/PC-police to roll us over.

We need to actually FIGHT BACK. Every day.

Whiskey, you are correct to the point of pain.

McCain is the last gasp of a moribund “get along-go along” conservatism that can’t even identify its enemies much less form a strategy against them. Bush, of course, is the sad exemplar of this exhausted guard. The Left has risen under their noses and used the pulp of their reputations like some kind of bio-fuel for their own raging aims. McCain doesn’t even know what a leftist is. How can he know their many insinuations into our system, their shapes, purposes? How can he fight them?

I recommend the long City Journal piece on Rudy Giuliani’s transformation of New York City. This is the only case study of our time of a man who took on an awesome PC-leftist monolith (in Rudy’s case, at its very center of power) and won, and the steel nerve it took to do it.

OBAMA MEDIA BIAS … NOW, OBAMA DEBATE BIAS !!!
The nation already is skeptical about the fairness and objectivity of the mainstream media regarding election coverage … so, why in the world is Gwen Ifill the debate moderator, when she is writing a book about Obama … especially since her book sales would increase if Obama/Biden win? The moderator in a debate … especially one of this importance and magnitude … should be seen as completely fair, objective and above reproach. This is a terrible choice, and could easily have been remedied by choosing from hundreds of other more objective potential moderators. I can imagine the outcry if Michelle Malkin, or Ann Coulter was chosen as the moderator for the first Vice Presidential debate between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden. FURTHERMORE … Everyone knows that Roland Martin is in the tank for Obama … and regarding his call for Palin to either ‘put up, or shut up’ … for millions of Americans, we still feel that Obama never adequately explained why he chose to spend TWENTY YEARS, yes TWENTY YEARS, in Jeremiah Wright’s anti-American, racist, black liberation church, which gave a life time achievement award to Louis Farrakhan, and Obama only quit the church due to public outrage and personal ambition.

Whiskey is correct (again). He is saying things that people do not want to hear. That’s too bad - hear them now, loud and clear.

This disaster was 40 years in the making. All these “in the tank” journalists did not spring from the ground or drop out of the sky last year. They were TRAINED to be leftists in our universities, by leftist professors, and that took decades. They were taught Marxist dogma as truth, and no one ever told them otherwise. Now, they are full-blown socialists (although the code word for socialist is “progressive”). They are on a mission to do or say anything to socialize America, to make America “progressive,” to have total power over everyone’s lives - the ability to dictate to other where to work, where to live, what to eat, what to say, what to think.

We let this happen. Decades ago, when the universities were churning out thousands of “advocacy journalists” indoctrinated in the Marxist worldview, conservatives did nothing. Today, these Kiddie Kommies are the news anchors, the editors-in-chief, the decision makers of the media. They hold all the power and authority, and they are using it to make their ideal world. And in their ideal world, it will be illegal for you to critisize them.

Conservatives had the time, money, contacts and other resources to oppose this movement and strangle it in the cradle before it grew into the monster it is today. They did not do this, and now we are reaping the whorlwind: President Barrack Obama.

Actions have consequences. Inaction is a type of action. For decades conservatives chose to bury their heads in the sand (and they still do) and this is the logical conclusion of their lack of action. All during the decades when the universities were indoctrinating our youth, they said, “I’m not worried. America is basically conservative. We’ll always win the important elections. Don’t be so negative. Have faith in the system. I’m going to put my money into real estate and hedge funds - my broker tells me that’s a smart move. I’m not going to spend any money to support conservative writers or filmmakers - although I wish them the very, very best of luck!”
