Bites — “Bankrupt The Coal Industry” Robo Calls On The Way

Posted by Dirty Harry on Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

McCain must sense some mo’ in Colorado. He’s heading back after Sarah spends Monday there.

Jake Tapper reports that the McCain camp already has robocalls up to alert swing state voters of Obama’s promise to bankrupt the coal industry. Obama claims he’s being taken out of context. Tapper has the whole quote and let’s you decide. In my opinion, he’s not being taken out of context at all. It’s his standard parsing, as he does with regards to nuclear, where he sets extraordinary standards that can never be met. This allows him to sound like he’s saying yes when he’s really saying no.

Today in Ohio, Sarah hammered Obama on his San Francisco promise to bankrupt the coal industry. There’s something about San Francisco that brings out the truth in O and Slow Joe. LOOK FOR THE MEDIA TO SELL WHAT’S LEFT OF THEIR RANCID SOULS TO STUFF THIS STORY. Watching CNN now, they’re playing Sarah’s speech from today, but not the coal part … oh, no… Instead, Dana Bash plays Sarah talking about taxes and afterwards comments, “Same thing we’ve been hearing from Republicans for generations — back to you Candy.”

Hmmm…? Nothing on Politico about Obama’s promise to bankrupt the coal industry. But if you’re interested in Joe the Plumbers tax liens, that information is right here. If Politico does report on this, no doubt the story’s focus will be on the “questions raised by the leak of the tape” as opposed to, you know,  the story — because that’s how Politico rolls in the ObamaTank.

Hillary’s doing robocalls for McCain in swing states … kind of.

Well, well, well! What a surprise.

Word no sooner comes out that soldiers in uniform are voting in a landslide for McCain - and guess what MSNBC just ‘happens’ to put on its cover page? Yup, the Messiah shaking hands with - soldiers in uniform.

Apologize if this is vulgar - but if the media blows Obama any harder, Michelle can sue for divorce on grounds of adultery.

We have to continue to pile on until the bitter end. National service force (AKA secret police), bankrupt the coal industry, spread the wealth, kill babies born alive after an abortion. He’s not a candidate he’s a freakin’ monster. How is this election still this close!!!!!

    Have you seen this story:

Pro-Obama Catholics plan ‘stop the vote’ at parishes

    http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/new.php?n=14219

The Obamabots will stop at nothing to win - now they are coming to a church near you. They have to be defeated.

  4. Stephanieon 02 Nov 2008 at 3:01 pm 4

Very good stuff. Yeah, I think we can win back Colorado to. Something wierd is going on people.

  5. Jonathanon 02 Nov 2008 at 3:02 pm 5

Robocalls? The Republicans had better cut some TV and radio ads stat.

  6. Brooksieon 02 Nov 2008 at 3:12 pm 6

Not a candidate — a freakin’ monster is right.
He won’t win if some of these lazy Catholics will just wake up and see this creep’s abort-o-philia.

  7. Major Grahamon 02 Nov 2008 at 3:14 pm 7

Relax - Sarah is speaking about it today, so is Mac, Newt was just discussing it with Cavuto and it is now #2 for viralvideos. Here is the link to Sarah’s speech - man she is awesome!:

She starts talking about the coal issue and obambi around 17 minutes.

Hey there is a video of Obie saying the exact thing………and the idiot who sent it to me attached it……and I got gobbeldy gook. Can anyone find the video. Him saying it on video would be the icing on the cake.

Why is something like this coal statement only surfacing 3 days before the election. At one time you might have expected the media to dig this up, but at least the McCain campaign should have someone rummaging around for these sorts of statements.

  16. Carolynon 02 Nov 2008 at 4:26 pm 16

    I can’t BELIEVE it!

Obama activists want to stop Catholics from warning parishioners that Obama is pro-abortion. But, my God, look how the Obamanots word it.

    http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/new.php?n=14219

“The extreme right will stop at nothing to distort church teaching for political gain.”

That is so far beyond hypocrisy it’s breath taking.

  17. StevefromMKEon 02 Nov 2008 at 4:42 pm 17

I agree about the media selling their souls…I truly hope that after this election cycle they crash and burn.

  18. Wilson the Volleyballon 02 Nov 2008 at 4:55 pm 18

John McCain supports cap and trade too, so by that same standard he’ll also trash the coal industry. I guess the difference is John McCain is a better politician.

This represents my entire problem with the McCain candidacy - speaking out of both sides of its mouth constantly.

  19. Salon 02 Nov 2008 at 5:03 pm 19

This is how cute that little girl is: she is cuter than my own grandkids.

  20. Stephanieon 02 Nov 2008 at 5:08 pm 20

OH Wilson are you here for Obama to? Its funny its always bugged me to no end when people come here make silly unsubstantiated statements with out a link. Please Wilson link. OK?
If I remember right Mac has gone off on Cap and Trade and said so. So has Palin. Now if you Wilson can prove me wrong please provide a link and I don’t mean Star magazine or the Enquierer.

  21. johnmark7on 02 Nov 2008 at 5:23 pm 21

How can this monster come close?

It’s the same almost every election. The great moronic Undecided decide at the last moment who do they like more.

Issues don’t matter. It’s purely a matter of looks and feelings.

Oh sure, Mr. I’m a Moderate will make up some BS when asked why he voted for so and so, but it was really all about who they liked more.

It’s always grade school for these folks when it comes to voting for class president.

In 2004, Bush demonstrated a clear inability to communicate anything of substance or real leadership to the People, but John Effing Kerry looked like Lurch and sounded like an undertaker.

This election has to do with”cool”. Would it be cool to have a beer with Obama or McCain. Obama doesn’t wear well. He’s boring. He’s full of himself and full of crap, a classic BSer. McCain, though, I’d probably pass on having a drink with him, too. He’s certain about things he knows nothing about like science, economics, importing poverty and crime into the country, and so on.

  22. Jack Marinoon 02 Nov 2008 at 5:29 pm 22

Kerry didn’t say none of the things Obama the SUN KING has said in the past two weeks and on election day Kerry was 10 points ahead of Bush, the democrats were having orgasmic spasms and Bush cleaned his clock by 3.5 million votes…..

  23. JohnLockeon 02 Nov 2008 at 5:35 pm 23

The number of early voters in California is virtually even between Republicans and Democrats:

    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2008/10/any-chance-cali.html

Now, I don’t expect McCain to take California (although I’ll certainly hope and pray), but this seems to me to be evidence of the possibility that pollsters overestimated the Democratic turnout in this election and underestimated the Republican turnout. If there are so many enthusiastic young Obama voters, why aren’t they rushing out to vote as soon as possible? Conversely, the Republicans are coming out in the same numbers as Democrats in a very blue state.

The fact that early voting isn’t going Obama’s way in places like California and Florida seems to me to be quite telling about which side is really more passionately motivated.

  24. Mashaon 02 Nov 2008 at 5:48 pm 24

Funny that no BIG SURPRISE came out against McCain or Palin this weekend. I wonder if the media were just too quick to unleash on Palin and now ran out of ammo. GWB DUI story came out what , Friday before? Now all the damaging stuff out there is on BO. Maybe there’s justice in the world after all…We’ll find out Tuesday night.

  25. Stephanieon 02 Nov 2008 at 5:50 pm 25

You wouldn’t wnat to have a beer with John McCain…..man you really don’t know much about him do you John Mark…here is a video..you want sense of humor, self effacing, John McCain is your man. You wanna do shots with someone take a look at this video………….

Here is another interesting take on things regarding how the PUMAs will count. This guys claims he has never been wrong in 45 years of politics. Don’t know about that but it is worth considering. The only disagreement I have with his post is Iowa. Mac’s campaign guy there made a good point. 4 years ago Bush was down by 5 points and won the state. Mac is only down by 1!

Hey! We got one of those Hillary robocalls from the RNC about an hour ago.

We’ve been playing a game all weekend: every time the phone rings, we bet which candidate’s calling. It’s been almost exclusively robo-calls, from a WIDE variety of candidates/third parties.

The only live call was from, of all people, Barry’s team. The caller was very polite - wanted to know whether I’d voted (not yet) - was I planning on voting on Tuesday (of course) - did I understand how the ballot was set up (yes) (in NC, even if you vote straight party, you still have to vote for President and for all nonaffiliated races, like the judgeships). I ended the call with, “Thanks for calling - Go McCain!”

It’s been kind of exciting being in a battleground state - I feel like the last girl at the high-school dance and two guys are vying for my affections. I never did fall for the smooth talkers, not even back then….

  28. Tomon 02 Nov 2008 at 6:38 pm 28

    Stephanie,

I wouldn’t let them bug you.

They are assigned here and other conservative blogs to depress you.

Just keep returning to get the real news not provided by MSM as I do. Ignore the dopes that have nothing better to do than surf conservative websites.

    Go McCain

    Tom in CA

Thanks to Major Graham for posting Sarah Palin’s speech. Watching the whole thing only makes my respect for Peggy Noonan, David Frum, George Will, David Brooks, Christopher Buckley and Colin Powell shrink into an even tinier peanut shell than it already had.

When asked about these critiques in particular Palin answered that it would have been nice of them to at least talk to her first and find out who she is before ripping her. I agree. But even more, I think it was incredibly unprofessional of Noonan and the others to not even have
a sit down with Palin before printing their snobbish onslaughts toward her. I have no doubt that if major “conservative” opinion makers like Noonan had requested it, some time would have been granted for a meeting with Palin. You would think that a “professional” pundit in the business of forming and expressing their opinions would have tried to get a first hand look at the woman before they decided tar and feather her.

What fools these so called Republican conservatives are for not recognizing what a talented politician and communicator Palin is. What fools the media is for yapping at her heels like the useless hyenas they are.

And thanks to Stephanie for the John McCain Sings Streisand video. That was the best! I have to say, bits like that, though goofy, add to my respect for him. It shows him capable of being a person with wit, and not a rather humorless, constantly forward-swimming shark like Obama.

If any of you missed it, check it out, Stephanie posted the link somewhere up the thread and its great!

I saw that vid of that little girl yesterday and squealed out loud. She’s beyond adorable. And looks and sounds just like Sarah! I hope Sarah herself sees this.

It only have 63 comments on YouTube so far, but all of them are positive. That’s nice to see. Take a moment and leave a comment!

  31. Michaelon 02 Nov 2008 at 7:10 pm 31

Yet another reason to vote for McCain:

Actress Susan Sarandon has already issued a veiled threat to the public.

“It’s a critical time, but I have faith in the American people,” she told Britain’s Telegraph newspaper with a touch of implied menace in June this year. “If they prove me wrong, I’ll be checking out a move to Italy. Maybe Canada, I don’t know. We’re at an abyss …”

  32. Stephanieon 02 Nov 2008 at 7:13 pm 32

Ha..please Suz..move to Italy. I AM BEGGING YOU!

  33. Stephanieon 02 Nov 2008 at 7:17 pm 33

Hey Michael I sent DH some news. If he didn’t get it to you lemme know. Thanks for the kudos for the video. Its hilarious. Damn that man has a sense of humor. Unlike the one who is too serious and awesome to be human enough to laugh at himself.

  34. Major Grahamon 02 Nov 2008 at 8:17 pm 34

    Michael,

    1. Your are welcome. It got me jazzed after I was feeling a bit blue.

    2. Yeah - the folks like Noonan and Parker just need to fade away. But when Mac and Sarah win they will quickly pivot, do a mea culpa, and be back in the fold.

    3. Check this out on Iowahawk if you haven’t seen it already. Don’t have a drink in your mouth - you might spray it all over the monitor. This is some amazingly funny stuff. A superb send-up of Christopher Buckley and company:

    http://iowahawk.typepad.com/iowahawk/2008/10/as-a-conservative-i-must-say-i-do-quite-like-the-cut-of-this-obama-fellows-jib.html

  35. Major Grahamon 02 Nov 2008 at 8:19 pm 35

Oh, and a little more from Ace’s site on the battleground polls:

The final round of Mason-Dixon polls has Obama enjoying small leads in the red states that would deliver him the presidency, but he’s below 50 percent in each and there are enough white undecided voters to leave some too close to call.

    Colorado: Obama 49, McCain 44, Undecided 4
    Florida: Obama 47, McCain 45, Undecided 7
    Nevada: Obama 47, McCain 43, Undecided 8
    Pennsylvania: 47, McCain 43, Undecided 9
    Virginia: Obama 47, McCain 44, Undecided 9
    Ohio: McCain 47, Obama 45, Undecided 6
    Missouri: McCain 47, Obama 46, Undecided 5
North Carolina: McCain 49, Obama 46, Undecided 5

Looking VERY doable. As Rush says - if he isn’t up by 10 or 15 points then he is toast in these.

    Come on Mac and Sarah!

  36. Scotton 02 Nov 2008 at 8:21 pm 36

Trouble is,these liberals always say they will move and never do…

  37. Scotton 02 Nov 2008 at 8:24 pm 37

Did I read Power Line right, that Jeffrey Hart endorsed BO?What is going on?

  38. whiskeyon 02 Nov 2008 at 8:24 pm 38

It’s possible. The problem is that Obama has so much money, most of it illegally raised overseas (by Gulf money).

Obama has $600 million and counting. THAT buys a gold-plated GOTV effort, advertising, and of course the Media effect.

It’s way uphill, but still doable. Odds are against us and McCain, but perhaps we will catch a break.

We can only pray. I will be back at it tomorrow.

  39. blueorredon 02 Nov 2008 at 9:00 pm 39

If you find yourself upset about the potential outcome of this election. If you also think of yourself as a normal American. Fear nothing. Just vote and take your friends and family. America will prevail on Nov 4th. Please vote.

  40. Major Grahamon 02 Nov 2008 at 9:20 pm 40

On the latest gallup poll. Don’t freak out about it - looks like he is weighting 38% dem to 26% republican! Yeah - like that is the truth.

  41. Snarfblatton 02 Nov 2008 at 9:31 pm 41

That little girl is precious! How cute is that!

What I don’t understand is why these liberals don’t follow through and move to Western Europe/Canada, instead of just whining about it every election year? Those are the kind of systems they obviously admire, so why not go there instead of trying to turn the U.S. into Little Europe? I love America as it is, and there’s nowhere else I can go like it. They have plenty of Socialist, Leftist paradises if living here causes them so much misery and teeth-gnashing.

  42. Glennon 02 Nov 2008 at 11:24 pm 42

Snarfblatt - you got it right on.

I work for a software company based in the San Francisco area - my 30 or so collegues in my department are all Obama worshipers - a dozen of them are Euros, and they are insufferable in their adoration of The One. I believe no one in the department is under 30.

Our department meets once a year, in January. One man in particular, an arrogant Canadian originally from Chile, was sporting an Obama button in January 2008. I told him, “Americans aren’t stupid and gullible enough to elect Obama president.” He immediately responded, “Yes, they are!” We’ll find out in about 48 hours if he was correct.

I try to open honest dialogues about issues such as national health, the war in Iraq, and Katrina. I’ve become skillful at not allowing myself to be overtalked, a standard tactic to avoid direct debate. They’ve developed sophisticated techniques at defusing me. When I make a salient point, such as “Most democrats, including Obama, opposed the surge strategy and said it wouldn’t work,” someone says, “And he heard that on Fox News!” This brings the house down in laughter and allows them to duck out of the discussion.

I do have one victory I shall never forget. I was in a car in early 2006 with about five others on the way to a company function. An over-educated British man, in his 50’s, was explaining to everyone his recommended Iraq strategy: pull all troops out, as quickly as possible, abandoning equipment if necessary (think Dunkirk). He explained to the Americans present that this would save lives, lives that are being needlessly lost in a pointless, illegal and unwinnable war.

I realized that the issue here was not military strategy. I asked the man to describe his “desired outcome” for Iraq - not an outcome that he felt was achievable, but a “best case” outcome that he WISHED could be achieved.

He was smart enough to realize where I was going so he tried to change the subject. I wouldn’t let him off the hook. I asked him if he DESIRED to see the US victorious in Iraq (Al Qaeda destroyed, Iraq a stable democracy) or if he PREFERED to see the US defeated.

After some more heming and hawing, he could not resist telling us that he DESIRED to see a US defeat. It was “necessary” to humiliate the cowboy Bush and totally falsify his policy of pre-emptive war. This would help restore world peace, you see, so it would be for the bennefit of all.

This admission had a sobering effect on the other Americans present. I had been trying to tell them that the European left was NOT on our side, and they got a direct demonstration.

The European left desires to see the United States weakened and humiliated. They see the election of a President Obama as the beginning of the decline of America (and rightly so), something they’ve been looking forward to for a long time. Obama would help the sun set on America, organize for the subjugation of the wreckless US economy and the castration of the destructive and murderous US military. Once the US media is brought completely under state control and right-wing outlets like Fox News shut down for good, the people can be re-educated so they accept the inevitable. Soon, the southwestern part of the US can be converted into a “joint territory” with Mexico, with open borders, and that would be followed by carving up the rest of the country into smaller geo-political units, all subordinate to the United Nations.

Mac, you crusty old bastard, you have to pull this off. You have to.

  43. Conan O'Lenomanon 03 Nov 2008 at 1:35 am 43

I must say, on a note of great optimism, that the internet/fax/instant communication revolution came up at just the right time. The reactionary forces of the left cannot put it all back in its box. It’s the greatest tool for freedom ever devised by mankind, and the marxists all know it. Maybe that’s why they are trying so hard to install Oboombox–their last chance to control everything including the media. It’s a fool’s game they will never win. There are still independent hearts and minds all over America and the world. The more repressive they become, the more people will rebel. Just look at Mac. He survived 4-5 years in the most brutal commie concentration camp and 40 years later is set to become our nexr President.
