    Good comedy.

I know you can’t make fun of Barrack, but at least you can make fun of supporters.

    That’s something, isn’t?

    Isn’t?

Is the Onion branching out into serious news now?

  6. Ohio Wolverine Momon 05 Nov 2008 at 3:19 pm 6

The Onion has been more serious than the MSM for a while now, Attamay….

Liked the B. Bush stuck in the sand bit. As for my family? Our lives are rich and full.

  8. mrpitheron 05 Nov 2008 at 3:22 pm 8

That was great! I laughed out loud at the final line–because it will be true!

  9. Scotton 05 Nov 2008 at 3:46 pm 9

One great thing about this is that the Dems will have to put up or shut up.Want to yank the troops out of Iraq?Go for it!Want to slash the defense budget?Go for it!Want to bankrupt the coal mining industry?Go for it!You have your Congress of Victors,Barry…..or was that all BS,BO?

You are right Scott. You are right.

  11. StevefromMKEon 05 Nov 2008 at 3:57 pm 11

Scott, add taking away your 401K to the pile too. Even the most ardent Barry supporters where I work ALL have them.

I’m *so* sure they’ll appreciate the $600 a year government contribution they’ll get then.

  12. Scotton 05 Nov 2008 at 4:04 pm 12

Yes,Steve, the Peronists are doing that in Argentina.

Stephanie, the Dems won’t have a “Bush” to hide behind while they crap all over us!

  14. The_Rickon 05 Nov 2008 at 4:22 pm 14

How long before Obama’s thugs nail The Onion on some finite tax infraction or some such nonsense. How dare they!

But seriously, with the afterglow of last night fading away, what will all those Obamanuts do to fill the hole that has opened in their lives?
It’s kinda like the military or professional sports, once you retire and no longer have that constant camaraderie and connection to a greater strategic cause, it’s hard to find that excitement and satisfaction in boring civilian life.

  15. Danielon 05 Nov 2008 at 4:25 pm 15

What was that last line, Come up with an empty catch phrase like “Yes, We Can” and you’ll have “An army of extremely energetic, endlessly annoying, mindless pawns” to do your bidding. ROTFLOL funny.

The first thing to make me smile all day.

    Perfect.

  16. Stephanieon 05 Nov 2008 at 4:25 pm 16

I say Barry becomes our voodoo doll. You know we just rip on him whenever and wherever we like. I say we go after him. BarrymcHitler. Thats a good sounding name. But hell he is a fascist isn’t he?

  17. Danielon 05 Nov 2008 at 4:33 pm 17

Dalia’s life is “rich”? I guess someone isn’t doing their “patriotic” duty and paying their fair share of taxes. I hope Pres. Elect Barry does something about that.

  18. Ohio Wolverine Momon 05 Nov 2008 at 4:36 pm 18

I think we should start of new line of nicknames for our new leaders and their crew—nothing off color or mean spirited….like Ginsu as in Knife for Rahm Emmanuel..heard that he once knifed a poor tabletop repeatedly whilerepating the names of Clinton enemies and saying “die, die, die”….
DHP visitors are a clear bunch, and we can do better than what they came up with….I like Alfonzo’s Darth Barack…we will need to speak in code soon anyway, right ;)…

I have a brother who can be a bit of a bother, and Mom would cover for him. When sis & I would discuss him in front of our kids, we would refer to him as “Eddie” because he was “the Golden Child.”

Come on gang, it will be fun!

Consider it a branch of Irish Diplomacy (my new rallying cry!)

  19. Lexingtonon 05 Nov 2008 at 4:41 pm 19

This is awesome. The Onion has simply been *on* for this election cycle, something that it sadly not recognized often enough. They wrote what is unquestionably the funniest satire of Obama yet -

I just turned away a door-to-door solicitor selling subscriptions to the local newspaper…and I had to chuckle.
The Big Media may have won the election for THEIR candidate, but at what price?
And by “what price” I mean literally in dollars and cents.

  26. The Ugly Americanon 05 Nov 2008 at 7:48 pm 26

A few of my liberal co-workers where whining on and on about Prop 8 today.

I piped in and said, “Didn’t I hear something about your candidate winning an election last night?”

    *blank stares*

Then later, I overheard them again in whispered tones asking each other, “Why so many black Obama supporters voted Yes”.

We are barely 24hrs into an Obama victory and these people are already miserable again.

    Simply amazing.

  29. Major Grahamon 05 Nov 2008 at 8:07 pm 29

DH - Nice one. The one they did on the supreme court’s death penalty ruling is also quite amazingly funny.

Semi-serious note. I had a few thoughts today on the aftermath.

    1. Will the election of a black president actually serve as a catalyst to end the stranglehold the dems hold on the black vote? I can see that happening especially if (when) he fails spectacularly to deliver.

    2. Does anyone else feel a sense of huge relief and even giddiness that this is all over? I still fear what teh one will do. But I found myself actually excited now about the conservative prospects. Especially since the wishy-washy brand of Bush/McCain republicanism is now dead.

    3. Bobby Jindal was on H&C tonight and was ON! Looking and sounding very presidential and actually articulating and defending genuine conservatism. I hope for a Palin/Jindal or Jindal/Palin ticket for 2012.

Lastly here is something from Patriot Room that made me smile and be a little more optimistic for the future as well. Comments please!

Elections are rough. But they end. We don’t have to like the result, but everybody has to live with them . . . for a while. The trick is to be able to accept it and move on. You’ll have to do it eventually, and the sooner you realize the other guys won and start planning for the next one, the better off you will be.

Being able to get over it depends a lot on your past experiences with politics. As a dyed-in-the-wool Conservative, there was no more difficult night for me than Election Day 1992. I was 26 years old, and had gone through high school and college with my hero, Ronald Reagan, at the helm. Bush 41 basically won Reagan’s third term. We had had rock solid, patriotic conservatives (cut me a little slack on 41’s conservatism, I’m on a roll) for as long as I could remember.

Then Bill Clinton was elected. He was a slick nobody from nowhere who didn’t even get 50% of the vote (thanks Ross Perot). He was a lying, pot-smoking draft dodger, who “loathed” the military. To make things worse, Bubba also got majorities in both houses of Congress. The Senate was 57-43 and The House was 258-176. I felt like my country had been taken over. I literally felt like I would throw up. It was a black despair and it took a while to pull out of it.

But then, the Democrats had to govern . . . never a pretty picture. Almost immediately, the Clinton scandals started. Clinton reneged on his pledge of a middle-class tax cut (we never learn that lesson - Democrats do not cut taxes), then passed the largest tax increase in history. Hillary tried to nationalize the health care system, in secret. Conservatives railed till blood shot out of our eyes.

The American people were horrified at the fallout from their choice in 1992, and two short years later, they nuked the Dems. Big Time. For the first time in 40 years, they gave Republicans both houses of congress. To put that in perspective, there was only a small minority of adults in the entire country who actually had a memory of a Republican controlled of Congress. It was a fact of life that Democrats controlled Congress. Always had, always would. Nobody ever thought we would see the day the GOP got the reins.

    Except Newt Gingrich.

Newt saw the excesses of the Democrats, the overreaching, the lack of common sense, the lack of traditional, American, capitalist ideas. He led on a specific platform of Conservative Principles - The Contract with America. And in 1994 he kicked their asses.

It was only two short years between the worst political night of my life and the best. The 1994 election was pure jubilation. All the Democrat biggies went down. And the Republicans forced Clinton to the center on things like a balanced budget and welfare. We were back.

So when I say we’ve got them right where we want them, I mean it. The American people usually make the right call with elections. Sometimes they don’t quite realize what they are voting for (Clinton) but figure it out pretty quickly and make the correction.

With Obama, we have elected a young, inexperienced, cocksure Socialist. He will not be respected by our enemies; pacifist, skinny little metrosexuals rarely are. He has promised to raise taxes, and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid will be happy to oblige. His socialist policies are, by design, going to weaken the economy. His Marxist ideas about a Domestic Civilian Force, a.k.a. his own private army, will shock people when they realize that that is the first step toward a dictatorship. He wants to gut the 2nd Amendment with bans on handguns and the abolition of right to carry laws. He wants to sweep away any restrictions on abortions. He wants to silence political opponents through the unFairness Doctrine and regulation of the internet.

And his associations with terrorists, radicals, and criminals will be investigated. Don’t forget, journalists and historians love to write books about Presidents. And they want all the dope.

People will be shocked to learn these things. They will realize that they chose in haste, based on emotion and guilt. The economy is a disaster, which is bad for the party in power, regardless of the merits of the other guy. Obama, to quote Joe Biden, is a clean, articulate black guy - everybody’s ideal black guy. Which is nice, but it is certainly not a qualification to be president. The economy and white, liberal guilt over slavery and racism, neither of which modern, white Americans practice, led to a guilt vote for Obama.

Obama, unlike Clinton, is an extreme radical, who will not wear well with the American people. Pelosi and Reid are utterly incompetent, unrepentant socialists, who, when left unchecked by a Republican President, will drive the country right into the ground.

A moderate Republican lost the presidential election last night. The moderate Republicans in the Senate were purged last night. This is a good thing. Conservatives need a fresh start to sharpen the contrast with the Democrats.

And Sarah is the new boss.

Rest assured my fellow crestfallen Conservatives, we thought all was lost with Bill Clinton, and we survived. The Democrats will overplay their hand, and the massacre in the midterm election will make them long for the good old days of 1994.

We’ve got ‘em right where we want ‘em.

  31. Johnny Ed's Babyon 05 Nov 2008 at 8:25 pm 31

    Major:

I remember in 1992 figuring just how many months Clinton would have to get anything through. It never occurred to me that he would win re-election.

The key is to make sure Obama does not get credit for any turnaround in the economy but takes the blame for any screwups. That’s easier said than done though - remember Waco? Clinton was teflon with the press loving him so much. That’s what I fear with Obama.

  32. Scotton 05 Nov 2008 at 8:43 pm 32

Major..as a native Louisianian,I am glad that you mentioned Bobby Jindal…he and Sarah Palin are the future of the GOP.We need these Young Turks to return the party to its roots.

JEb—let’s hope the suicide by a thousand cuts that the media is inflicting completes by 2011….thought I read on Drudge that both US News&World Report and Christian Science Monitor are both going web only…..not the two I would pick for early demise, but I don’t read them with any regularity—-anyone know what’s going on? Is it cost, or a way of “going green”?

  34. wanketteon 05 Nov 2008 at 9:22 pm 34

    Major,
I so very much needed your post. Today has been hellish for lots of reasons, all related to the election. And I needed a peptalk that wasn’t all “And we wish the best to President-elect Obama!” Thanks for that.

  35. Supramom2000on 05 Nov 2008 at 9:31 pm 35

Major, my only fear is that we are again expecting too much of the American people. The media lied over and over and over to an uncaring populace. They got their demagogue elected. Why would they begin to print the truth about him at any time in the future?

And how exactly do we boycott and ruin the media if we do not subscribe to any newspapers or magazines to begin with?

  36. Major Grahamon 05 Nov 2008 at 10:27 pm 36

    All - you are welcome.

OWM - here is the link to the article:
    http://patriotroom.com/?p=3916

Johnny Ed’s Baby - I think if obambi is Jimmy Carter 2.0 then no amount of press coverage will work. If unemployment is at 10% and we are suffering from stagflation and serious crises around the world then he will be a one-termer. Clinton was actually saved by the Republican congress in that they forced him to moderate and that started the economic boom.

Scott - Yeah, Jindal and Palin are the real things. I was pretty annoyed at Fox’s Carl Cameron trying to spread unsubstantiated rumors about Palin today. Greta pretty much spanked him on her show. I think the Republican leadership should take those two and have them give the Party’s reply every time teh one give his state of the union.

Wankette - you are very welcome. Buck up. We lost a battle, we did NOT lose the war.

Supramom2000/OWM - the old MSM is dying off and having to transform. People just aren’t buying newspapers and magazine like they used to. Also there are too many alternate sources now via the web and talk radio. Also the MSM just ruined itself during this election. Bernie Goldberg was on O’Reilly tonight and quoted a Pew study that said 90+% of Republicans thought the media was in the tank for obambi and 60% of the Dems thought that as well. This election was there last hurrah. Hope they enjoyed it. Oh, and you can always check out any advertisers and sponsors to newspapers/magazine and email/call/write and threaten boycotts. But you of course would have to purchase said paper or magazine. Hey, it could be a fun project for a local conservative group to do against your local papers/media if they are liberal. Just a thought.

Good night all. Talk to you manana!

  37. Scotton 05 Nov 2008 at 10:40 pm 37

Interesting…70% of black voters went against same sex marriage in California…far more than whites

  38. The_Rickon 05 Nov 2008 at 10:56 pm 38

Interesting…70% of black voters went against same sex marriage in California…far more than whites

    Scott,

It’s no secret that minorities (ESPECIALLY 1st and 2nd generation hispanics) are the most prejudiced Americans.

White people have “tolerance” beaten into them from pre-school. Minorities generally get a pass, or are encouraged to pursue their every belief.

  39. whiskeyon 06 Nov 2008 at 12:15 am 39

Blacks and Hispanics are very racist indeed, and have huge prejudices against Gays.

That being said, sound policy demands rejection of Gay Marriage and the Gay Cultural Agenda. To prevent legalized polygamy (no way to stop it with Gay Marriage) and making marriage “gay” so even more men opt out — leading to more single mothers.

Blacks will never vote Republican, ever, any more than Hispanics will, no matter how you hispander. That just is.

Far better to get 58% of the White vote that Bush did in 2004. Part of the problem is that marriage turns people conservative and being single makes you uber-lib (status mongering in the dating market).

McCain is a stupid old fool, with a stupid staff, blaming Palin for his own incompetence, ego, stupidity, and moronic RINO, Democrat in hiding. Good riddance to the old fool — when his country really needed him he was AWOL feeding his ego. He was never willing to win, he wanted to be a good loser and that’s all that mattered. All his courage was left in Hanoi, and yes I would tell that his face. HE can go back to his millions, his Senate buddies, his press whores, and his Beer Heiress Wife. I have to live in Teleprompter Jesus’s Obamanation. I hope I can someday “thank” him in person for being such an arrogant ass and spoiling Mitt or Rudy’s or Huck’s chances to actually, you know, go out and campaign as a Republican not some g-damn press whore.

Sarah Palin is the only Republican left. Too bad she’s poison now. Women hate her, that’s not going to change, thank idiot McCain and his idiot staff and Tina Fey. Single women are ground zero of PC and uber-status mongering, since it’s a two-fer: singletons mate competition plus girlfriend pecking order. [Married women don’t care about that idiocy — it’s the whole point of being married.]

Neither Jindal nor Palin are anything other than a minority to avoid the “White” tag placed on Republicans, or a woman that single women will always hate (for other reasons than just PC — she has five kids, they will have one single yuppie eugenic designer IVF baby if that).

No, we need a FIGHTER. A fighter with the Press, with Dems, with the minority PC rules, with the “racism” tag. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you America’s Mayor, the Honorable Rudy Giuliani. The man who saved NYC. If not Rudy, Huck, the man with the velvet tones and cutting, biting remark to bring opponents down to size.

  40. Scotton 06 Nov 2008 at 1:25 am 40

I know,Rick…I live in Memphis,Tennessee…these black ministers care nothing about 13-14 year old girls having babies…but if you homosexuals…woo!

    Major Graham,

    Brilliant post!

Send a copy to John Boehner and Mitch McConnel!

  42. Ohio Wolverine Momon 06 Nov 2008 at 4:36 am 42

whiskey—I can understand your ire with SOME women; I met and Obamabot—30ish married with child, who repeated the talking points with devotion—her programmers would be so proud. Got her thinking, though–don’t know how she voted.
But EVERY married woman I know, including the dems in my family, LOVE Sarah Palin, and we see through the slander. What the dems did to Bush & Reagan, the RINOS and parasites (my term for political operatives) did to Palin.
I think it is jealousy; as pointed on (on the Campaign Spot, for one) there was no MCainism—like there was Reaganism or Bushism. You can’t get behind a man if he never stands firm, and other than the war, McCain didn’t.
Palin, on the other hand—wow, the future is bright, with her, Jindal, Rudy, Mitt and Fred—glad we got McCain off the bench. He can be first base coach–you know, the guy who pats you on the back for getting on base.

Kit- I concur. Boehner is my congressman (picked his district deliberately when I moved to Ohio) and I am preapring a “care package” for him—-and Kentucky is not far;McConnell has to have an office in Louisvile—think I will pay a visit.

  43. Ohio Wolverine Momon 06 Nov 2008 at 4:48 am 43

My friends…:)…there is a SCARY picture on the Corner at National Review—the Wicked Witch of the West.
Print it and save it, and remember that our goal is to send her back to San Fran, or at least the Congressional backbenches, in 2010.
    Nickname list:
The harpie two heartbeats away from the presidency…
H2H for Pelosi, Ginsu for Emmanuel….anyone?

  44. Major Grahamon 06 Nov 2008 at 5:52 am 44

    whiskey,

Have to disagree with you on Sarah. She is unpopular with mostly single urban democratic females. Well that is to be expected. But you win elections by securing your base. Mac didn’t - but Sarah helped him enormously on this. I suspect he would be down several more million votes without her. The exit polling showed she was not drag on the ticket at all.
I like Guiliani but he will never appeal to the conservative base due to some of his liberal positions. He would make a fine AG or Secretary of State.

  45. Bennett Marcoon 06 Nov 2008 at 6:03 am 45

    Major Graham:

Everybody talks about Rudy as AG — I thought that Rudy as Sec. of State was a half-crazy idea of mine and mine alone. I’m glad to see somebody else is mulling it.

Screw “straight talk,” imagine how far a little “Brooklyn talk” would go with our friends — and especially our non-friends — around the world. Rudy could be exactly what’s needed to overhaul the institutional culture at State.

  46. the bookkeeperon 06 Nov 2008 at 6:43 am 46

Steph, what’s the deal with Adam Putnam resigning? He’s one of the young R’s I’ve had my eye on, too.

  47. G-MANon 06 Nov 2008 at 7:13 am 47

Sarah will be back. This time she’ll be in control, and not as second fiddle. Her role this time was different.

  48. Major Grahamon 06 Nov 2008 at 7:37 am 48

    Bennett - roger that!

A couple of other thoughts now that I am on my post-workout endorphin high.

As it is said, in every victory are the seeds of defeat. Here are few for consideration.

    1. We have just proved we are a post-racial society. teh one was elected, but in places like Colorado which went for him, the people also approved an anti-affirmative action ballot measure. Depending where you live you should look into helping sponsor guys like Ward Connerly to come in and get one in your state.

    2. For many this election was a way to purge white guilt and prove they weren’t “racist” etc. OK fine. Many of these people, especially the 18-34 year old who went overwhelmingly for teh one now no longer have anything to prove. Maybe they can show their support for women’s rights in the next election by voting for Sarah?

    3. This was also a genuine catharsis for the black community in many ways. Though I can’t stand her, Whoopi Goldberg said she has always considered herself an American first, but now feels like she can put her suitcase down and unpack. OK, I rolled my eyes at that comment. But that also means there are no more excuses for failure among minorities. Guys like Jesse, Jackson and Al Sharpton are done. Good riddance.

    4. Liberalism has made a long march through the institutions. We just need a counter-march. Electing a conservative president and congress is a wonderful thing. But they can’t fix everything wrong. Liberalism needs to die the death of a thousand cuts. Ballot measures for school choice, anti-affirmative action and pro-marriage initiatives are almost always successful.

    5. Start reading some solid conservative works and arm yourselves. Many conservatives have the right instincts but have a hard time articulating our positions. A good starting place is Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg. Outstanding work and talks about the situation we now find ourselves in. It is now the number 1 book on politics at Amazon and is now in paperback.

    6. There is no point 6.

I have some other thoughts for later. Gotta get ready for work.

  49. Stephanieon 06 Nov 2008 at 7:39 am 49

We are barely 24hrs into an Obama victory and these people are already miserable again.

    Awesome…..hahhahahaha!

Anyway Putnam resigning? Huh? I haven;t heard anything because I am carrying a news blackout here in the Stephandhubby household because frankly if I see or hear Dear Leader I will be sick to my stomach. I already know everything I need to know about that bottom feeding narcissist.

Anyway whats the word on Putnam….no one has said a thing to me.

  50. Major Grahamon 06 Nov 2008 at 7:58 am 50

Whiskey - one other thought on your view that Sarah is poison and why I think you are mistaken. I remember how the press and moderate republicans treated Reagan back in the day. When he was nominated by the party in 1980 a lot of folks thought he was doomed - after all, wasn’t this the star of Bedtime for Bonzo? He was a cowboy, lightweight etc. Yeah, and he did soooo badly in the two elections.

The MSM went so hard after her because they recognized her potential as a female Reagan. I agree she needs some more seasoning. I hope she does nothing but study up on world affairs, starts meeting with foreign leaders and becomes the face of the Republican party as a counterweight to obambi. Sorry - but Mitch McConnell or Huckabee aren’t going to cut it.

  51. the bookkeeperon 06 Nov 2008 at 8:50 am 51

Putnam’s resigning as House Chairman. No real answer as to why.

I want Rudy as Attorney General. We got a lot of corrupt people that need takin’ care of NEW YORK STYLE!

I’m not so sure about Jindal for VP, I heard the LA needs him to complete his term.

Anyway, assuming a Sarah Palin presidency, here is a list of my dream cabinet:

    VP: Mitt Romney/Newt Gingrich/

    Chief of Staff: Karl Rove

    SecState: John Bolton
    SecDef: Robert Gates
    SecTreas: Mitt Romney
    Attorney General: Rudy Giulianni
Press Sec: Fred Thompson (Press conf. would be FUN)
    NSA: Robert Gates/Petreaus*/Charles Krauthammer
    Surgeon General: Charles Krauthammer

*Is he eligible for this post? I know he isn’t eligible for SecDef, but I’m not sure about Nat. Security Adv.

    Kit:

Not Fred — Press Secretary: Dennis Miller (or P.J. O’Rourke)

    Marco,

Good suggestions. Seen Miller in action, not O’Rourke -yet.

My husband is self employed so rest assured we pay taxes out the ying yang. But yes, rich is a word I’ll use freely and with great comfort. We have three healthy and beautiful children, a twenty two year relationship, a great house built in 1776 in a wonderful historic town, great love and great work. Does anyone have more? Is anyone happier than I? I hope so, but wouldn’t count on it. And I wish you all well.

Major Graham, I agree with your comments about race. Everybody’s worked their shit out now. Great. All the needless guilt and animosity can be left at the door.

Feeling guilty when you didn’t do anything wrong and playing the victim when nothing has been done to you are signs of weakness, plain and simple. Weakness should be purged, and hopefully Obama’s election has done that.

Of course, as Stephanie mentioned they’re already pissing and moaning about something. They’ll never be happy, but at least now they’ll find something else to complain about besides race.
