Prop 8. Witch Hunters Hang Another Pair of Ears On Their Belt
Posted by Dirty Harry on Tuesday, November 25th, 2008
The blacklist is alive and well in Hollywood. Los Angeles Film Festival director Rich Raddon, who seemed to have survived the left wing, fascist witch hunt finally buckled and turned in his resignation.
Not surprisingly, it was accepted:
While not directly addressing concerns that were raised when it was revealed that Raddon, a Mormon member of the film community, had donated $1500 to the campaign in support of California Proposition 8, he did release a statement apologizing for the “negative attention that my actions have drawn to Film Independent and for the hurt and pain that is being experienced in the GLBT community.” His full statement is below.
The Board of Film Independent has accepted his resignation and also released a statement: “With great reluctance, Film Independent has accepted Richard Raddon’s resignation as Director of the Los Angeles Film Festival. Rich’s service to the independent film community and to Film Independent has been nothing less than extraordinary. He has always shown complete commitment to our core principles of equality and diversity during his long tenure. It was through his leadership that the Los Angeles Film Festival has grown into a formidable and exciting showcase for talented artists and diverse voices. We are sorry to see him go.”
The message is loud and clear: Whatever you do, if you want to survive in this town, don’t give to political causes unpopular in liberal Hollywood. You will be named, outted, hounded, and harassed until you are gone.
And how do these McCarthyites live with themselves? They simply decree any cause they find unpopular “discrimination.” And yet these are the same moral illiterates who lionize those fifties blacklistees who defended, promoted, and covered for an ideology responsible for the enslavement and murder of millions.
Last I heard, Barack Obama and Joe Biden still oppose gay marriage.
How about that.

Nicol Don 25 Nov 2008 at 8:07 pm 2I can’t even stomach reading most of the other left-wing film sites I used to go to, Harry.
Dave Poland has become a major blacklister and the others are no better.
Thanks for fighting the fight.
Jack Marinoon 25 Nov 2008 at 8:19 pm 3The problem here is that conservatives are gutless, WHY RESIGN?? Stick it out and defy these nazis and tell them FU and use the publicity to your advantage. WE HAVE TO STOP GIVING IN TO THESE THUG TACTICS and FIGHT BACK or they will drive everyone out of power. Who cares if they call you a bigot, my God is this word more powerful then a bullet? Tell them they are F’ing assholes and laugh at them. I have been called every name in the book by these nazi dogs and I give it right back to them and they can’t take it and get defensive. Then you own them.
These conservatives MUST STOP backing down or the mad dogs will win
RESon 25 Nov 2008 at 8:23 pm 4The difference between the McCarthyite blacklists and this new one is that the new one is justified. All the Communists wanted to do was subvert America’s traditional values and replace them with universal standards of equality, peace, love, harmony and tolerance (for those deserving of tolerance, of course; you can carry a good thing to far, after all.)
The targets of the new blacklist are those who support the oppressive traditionalist anti-progressive views that have made America such a terrible place for homosexuals to reside while trying to make a living.
Jack Marinoon 25 Nov 2008 at 8:25 pm 5These gays are interested in going after the liberals, Obama, Biden, black churches, Muslims they are after white christians and that is it. They won’t dare go near any conservative religious Jews either. This is about christian republicans and they want our blood. You all saw the expression on the faces of the gays stomping on that old women’s cross. It was like a frenzy and the ‘thing’ that hate the most was the cross of Christ. It was Christ they were stomping on. This is what it is all about, the fact they all know they will be judge in the end
Katoon 25 Nov 2008 at 8:47 pm 6I love how the festival’s “core principles” are “equality and diversity.” Not truth, or beauty, or freedom, or even art.
And it’s a “showcase” for “diverse voices” — except for, you know, 52% of Californian voters.
Haumeaon 25 Nov 2008 at 9:10 pm 7Learn the phrase “freedom of conscience.” Use it. Repeat. Lather. Rinse. Fight the PC Nazis.
Carolynon 25 Nov 2008 at 10:12 pm 8The LA Film Festival has now defined Hollywood’s motto:
Some pigs are more equal than others.
BTW, Jack’s damned right. Raddon should never have stepped down, nor even apologized. Giving in to bullies only makes them worse. (Can anyone say Chamberlain?)

igoron 26 Nov 2008 at 12:34 am 10I would not be surprised if this was one of those: “You resign or we will fire you”, situations.
Tar Heel Momon 26 Nov 2008 at 3:15 am 11igor–
Fine - let them fire him. Call their bluff. Force them to fish or cut bait. Then he can sue them for unjust termination. Use the tactics they’ve used for years and throw it back in their faces.
If you keep giving the schoolyard bully your lunch money, you’re never going to eat lunch - not in Hollywood, not anywhere.
Stephanieon 26 Nov 2008 at 6:17 am 12I wouldn’t have resigned. Kiss me arse seeing me resign. NO WAY! Hey leftists take your black list and be gone with you. This is America…last I heard we have free speech. you don’t like it LEAVE!
Growltigeron 26 Nov 2008 at 6:58 am 13As the “liberal” black list grows, it seems to me there is more and more talent and opportunities for alternative cinema — just as the Internet, Talk Radio and Fox News have provided alternative media.
Personally, I’d love to see Zucker produce and direct a serious film — he showed a distinct talent for this in the serious moments of “An American Carol”.
There are numerous interesting books out there that would with a little tinkering made exciting films. One of the most interesting was “No Prayers for the Assassin” by Robert Ferigno. (Don’t bother with the sequel — it was a stink bomb). Robert Davi would be perfect for the psychopathic killer; James Caviazel for the “hero” (Rakim Epps - a Muslim).
Ashley Judd might be good for the heroine unless she’s gone too long in the tooth.
Tar Heel Momon 26 Nov 2008 at 7:27 am 14Growltiger, it’s “Prayers for the Assassin,” and I agree it’s a terrific book that would make a provocative movie.
Interesting: here are the “people who bought this also bought” titles for “Prayers” at Amazon: “Liberal Fascism”/Goldberg; “Moment of Truth in Iraq”/Yon; “America Alone”/Steyn; “The Last Patriot”/Thor. The only one I haven’t read yet is Thor’s - is it any good? I think I remember someone on here mentioning it.
Jack Marinoon 26 Nov 2008 at 7:33 am 15They made this guy resign for making a campaign donation, I’d sue them all. The film festival, the gay organizations, I’d raise hell.
Grow, as far as Zucker is concern guys like him won’t make that kind of film, they are too scared. But you give a guy like me the funding, I’d make a film that exposed the liberal nazis for what they are in Hollywood and it would make the Passion look like a picnic. I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I have no desire to be part of this system, I never have and never will be.
Growltigeron 26 Nov 2008 at 7:37 am 16Tar Heel Mom,
Thanks for the correction. I can never remember whether it is “Prayers…” or “No Prayers…”. I’m always stunned at how many interesting books (esp. thrillers) Ho’wood never picks up.
I tried to read “Liberal Fascism” but got stuck after a couple of chapters. I’m going to get it another try later on. “America Alone” was fantastic. Non-fiction, but in the hands of a good script writer, the idea would make a good film. I haven’t read “The Last Patriot”, however, “Lone Survivor” is an exciting non-fiction thriller about a SEAL patrol in Afghanistan that would make a powerful film (in the right hands. Can’t imagine what the people who make turkeys like “Valley of Elah” would do to it — probably have the SEALS go on a killing spree. Won’t spoil the book by revealing anything, however, if you like this kind of thing, it’s a definite buy).
Crichton’s “Prey” would make a good movie if done right.
A challenge for the special effects team. “State of Fear” (also Crichton) would set the enviro-nuts teeth on edge. No way will a “traditional” studio make this film. That’s another for the “alternative” cinema. I frankly think there’s a lot of money to be made by producing good films that don’t bash America or elevate Socialism (we’re going to see a spate of the latter now that the Obamessiah is president).
Tar Heel Momon 26 Nov 2008 at 8:06 am 17Growl,
I got to meet and shake Marcus Luttrell’s hand (”Lone Survivor”) at a booksigning. His photos don’t do him justice, BTW - what a handsome young man! I told him that the book was for my son who was then deployed in the same area of Afghanistan where Luttrell and his team had been. The man - SEAL, Navy Cross awardee, combat veteran - stood and thanked ME for MY sacrifice. I was just floored!
Hollywood will never make that movie. They’ll never make the movie about the Deuce-Four (24th ID), either, even though Bruce Willis was talking about it.
Ohio Wolverine Momon 26 Nov 2008 at 8:17 am 18Brad Thor has gotten raves from Stephanie and few others; my husband thought the first Thor was good. He also likves Steve Barry—any insight from DHPers?
moviebobon 26 Nov 2008 at 8:35 am 19The guy’s a coward. No sympathy from me, regardless of what he stands for. He apparently “believed” in this cause (and it’s not like it’s some minor issue, either) to give $1500 to it but not enough to put up with having this belief and/or opinion challenged in the workplace? Please. In addition to anything else that can be said of the guy, he’s a weakling.
If I worked at a slaughterhouse and it came to light (matter of public record and all that) that I’d been giving massive sums of cash to PeTA, I’d have to expect people in my work life to be unhappy about it. But, since one can’t be FIRED for such a thing, if I believed in the cause I’d stick it out. This guy is a chicken.
Stephanieon 26 Nov 2008 at 8:38 am 20I love Marcus Luttrell. I would have passed out. He was interviewed on Glenn Beck last spring and not only is he an outstanding individual he is also HILARIOUS! He and guys like him are one of the reasons that I adore SEALS. They are just awesome men. Dang.
As far as Lone Survivor I don’t know where I heard but I swore it was Beck who said they were looking at a script. Now that THE ONE is President maybe a good movie about what happened to those guys will be made…you know cause its cool to be a patriot again now that a non patriot will be president. But as far as Luttrell is concerned I would think….kind of think twice before making a movie…if its not what the story was about he may be upset. This is not a man you want upset. That whole spiel between him and Beck was so funny. Beck wanted him to show up when Becks daughter was going on her prom date. They had a whole scenario. I nearly crashed my car because it was so funny.
Tar Heel Momon 26 Nov 2008 at 8:38 am 21OWM, I read Barry’s “The Third Secret” and threw it across the room when the Big Secret was revealed. The book is an insult to Catholics everywhere.
SPOILER ALERT:
The thought that the Blessed Virgin would condone abortion is beyond blasphemous. Plus, would it be possible for ANYBODY to write a priest as protagonist who manages to keep his vow of celibacy????
I’ll never pick up another book by Barry, and I wrote him a note at his website to let him know that.
Paulon 26 Nov 2008 at 10:18 am 22I voted against the marrage definition proposition here in Arizona because of a thin libertarian streak in me that feels the government has no business telling anyone who they can or can’t marry.
Having said that, I think civil unions was a good comprimise of which the gay”community” rejected. All or nothing.
This is the same kind of thinking that ran the gay activists in the 80’s. When the AIDS epidemic started to get out of hand, the cities of LA and Frisco and others tried to close down the bathhouses and promote monogamy. Stop the contagion at is’s source. The gay “community”exploded with charges of homophobia and the like. The pols buckled, the bathhouses opened, talk of monogomy went out the window and tens of thousands of young men were condemend to slow death so these pricks could have thier cake and eat it too (to hell if a pun was intended or not)
It got to such a nihilistic point that in some circles, it was felt that the greatest sexual sensation was when you penetrated an infected man and you yourself became infected.
I would spit on the hedonistic asswipes who did these things, but they’re all dead of AIDS.
Now, they are demonstrating thier hypocracy and cowardice by not going after the black church’s that promoted anti-prop 8 rhetoric.
God, the left makes me sick.
Supramom2000on 26 Nov 2008 at 10:38 am 23Tar Heel Mom,
It was me who was talking about the Brad Thor books right after Stephanie finished the latest Vince Flynn one. I really liked the Last Patriot, I think even better than the prior one. I had not known that his were series like Vince Flynn’s and that they are somewhat consecutive.
In some ways, I like Thor’s better as a female because he write’s his women more realistic.
They are definitely well worth the read.
The 24thID is where I was stationed for 5 years during the first Gulf War. Barry McCaffery was our Div Commander. Now a liberal politician. Too bad.
Stephanieon 26 Nov 2008 at 10:45 am 24Igor I would have gone out fired then. FIRE ME AND THEN I WILL MAKE SURE EVERY REPORTER ON THE PLANET HAS A STORY! Hows about a lawsuit? See. We never do that though. Guttless p*ssies.
Stephanieon 26 Nov 2008 at 11:07 am 25About the women in the FLynn novels. Ok: My complaint is the fact that Anna (if you have read the books you know of whom I speak is a spoiled brat. First off no guy in the position Mitch Rapp is in, who has a job like his would ever consider a relationship with a TV reporter. I know automatic conflict makes good story telling. Hmmm Ok. Fine. What about the one book where after he comes home from taking care of a couple of outstanding issues concerning Abu Sayeff in the Phillipines, gets wounded and helps rescue a family Anna goes off and not only decks him but makes her wounded hubby sleep on a sofa? What was that? As a military wife I was sitting tehre going..Vince I need to talk to you. Irene Kennedy wanting Mitch to back off from being in the field is one thing, he is her right hand however Anna never really compromises and making her hubby make a promise no woman with a pea sized brain would ever force him to was ludicrous. When Anna disappears I was like, yes there is a God.
The two women in the books I like are Irene Kennedy, and in the first book Liz. Liz actually LISTENS to Michael. And she backs down. She compromises to protect him and everyone involved instead of being a reporter first. Thats the thing about Anna NBC means more to her than her husband. GRR….
Ok but other than that damn I love that Rapp fella.
Supramom2000on 26 Nov 2008 at 11:17 am 26Right there with ya Steph, Rapp is the man. I think I decided Marcus Lutrell should just play Rapp.
But don’t forget how stupid the wife of the other agent behaves in this last book as well. She is as much an idiot as Anna was. Going behind her husband’s back to the school? I call BS on that. My husband would never forgive me for that.
Turning off his cell phones? 1 time when he absolutely needs sleep or he will crash and burn, ok…. but multiple times - again I call BS.
Stephanieon 26 Nov 2008 at 11:22 am 27Supra I have a bad feeling about all of that Maggie business. The kids leaving the doors unlocked? Hmmm email forth coming.
