Just the worst thing for any parent. My prayers go with them.

Too bad….I am thinking of them. :(

    R.I.P. :-(

I can’t even imagine. My prayers are with them.

Travolta came to my High School here in Englewood, NJ and he was sweet to my mom. He used to attend my old high school. He really is a class act.
My, what a horrible thing to happen. I’ll keep them in my prayers.
He really speaks about his son all the time. We all know how close they were. God Bless them.

Did I just read that article correct? Travolta’s family used scientology quacks to “heal” his son?!

This is as bad as somebody using prayers to heal a poison bite, hiv, or cancer!

Their son was known to be profoundly autistic, with deep neurological sensitivities. The Kawasaki angle is new to me, but Travolta was very generous with autism causes. Some autistic kids have seizure disorders. To lose one’s child has to be the worst thing that can happen in life. God Bless them.

The greatest tragedy for a parent has to be losing a child. God bless the Travoltas, and grant peace to young Jett.

I will include the Travoltas in my prayers during the coming days; and I will also pray for Forlourned and everyone who is afflicted with poison bites, HIV, and cancer, too.

Hey, look, the conventional treatments for autism seem to be spotty at best, so if they wanted to go the Scientology route, more power to them.

If there were reliable conventional treatments for autism with a proven track record, you might have a point, but there really aren’t. That’s part of why parents of autistic children so often despair.

God bless the Travoltas, and God keep their boy.

I will indeed keep the family in my prayers. What a horrible, horrible tragedy. R.I.P.

I am so sorry to hear this. My prayers for them all.

What a shame. My prayers are with this family.

“keep the family in your prayers”

    Done deal.

    In Pace Requiscat.

John Travolta’s sister Ellen and Ellen’s daughter live here in Spokane. John’s niece, Molly is a local DJ here and very popular. John comes to town several times a year to visit his sister and see her appearances in local community theatre. Everyone who has met him here in town thinks he is a class act. Sometimes we hear some juicy gossip about his past - before he married Kelly - from his niece. But it is obvious that she adores him and thinks very highly of he and Kelly.

My prayers are with him and his wife. Not only is this the worst thing that can happen to parents, but to happen on basically New Year’s makes it even worse.

Those poor parents–hugged my boys extra tight. I’m a protective mom, and it appears as though the Travoltas really doted on their children; my heart breaks for them. What a painful reminder that diligence and worldly success cannot shield and protect our love ones, no matter how hard we try.
RIP, young Jett; our prayers are with your family.

  19. Ginaon 02 Jan 2009 at 7:52 pm 19

As I understand it, his parents always said that he was not autistic at all.

  20. Supramom2000on 02 Jan 2009 at 7:57 pm 20

And I am confused by the article Harry links to as well: One part says he died of a seizure and he has periodic seizures due to his disease. It also says his parents were home.

The next part says he fell and hit his head on 1 Jan and was not found until 10:00 am on 2 Jan.

Anyone know better details than that?

  21. memomachineon 02 Jan 2009 at 8:12 pm 21

    Hmmm.

No father should ever outlive his son.

  22. Mr Sideouson 02 Jan 2009 at 8:19 pm 22

Such a tragedy. My thoughts are with the family.

  23. Kiton 02 Jan 2009 at 9:41 pm 23

    Terrible, terrible news. Shocking.

“As I understand it, his parents always said that he was not autistic at all.”

Depending on whom you ask, the usual story is that Scientology doesn’t accept that nuerological disorders like autism “exist” - that they’re just different symptoms of the same larger mental/spiritual impurities that Scientology is supposed to help you purge and/or manage. Something like that (ever want to waste a few days? Ask a Scientologist to actually explain what they believe.) Either way, this is just awful.

My prayers go out to this poor family. I was driving in a car when this came over the radio and the instant reaction of my sister (a mother of two children) was - ‘NO parent should outlive their child.’

I am so sorry for the Travolta’s. My prayers go out to them.

  26. Growltigeron 03 Jan 2009 at 5:27 am 26

The worst tragedy that can befall a parent. May the Travoltas survive this as well as possible. God go with them.

  27. Megon 03 Jan 2009 at 10:06 am 27

    What a shame.

  28. Stephanieon 03 Jan 2009 at 10:11 am 28

Surpa they may not have contacted Press until the second. Just my thoughts when I heard about it.

  29. Morganon 03 Jan 2009 at 10:23 am 29

My condolences to the Travolta family and their friends. May their son rest in peace.

  30. Snarfblatton 04 Jan 2009 at 3:14 am 30

What a horrible thing to happen to someone so young. My prayers are with them.

  31. Stickwick Staperson 04 Jan 2009 at 6:53 pm 31

It’s terrible to lose a child. May God bless the Travoltas and keep them.
