Lloydon 06 Jan 2009 at 3:29 pm 1Sad news for here, but the new site is GREAT!
Magycianon 06 Jan 2009 at 4:42 pm 2Nooooo….
OK.. See you there.
Can’t wait to see the new digs. Need anything or is wine good enough?
dtmon 06 Jan 2009 at 5:58 pm 3Turn out the lights…
gmkon 06 Jan 2009 at 6:38 pm 4the index page at bighollywood.breitbart.com is redirecting to bigholywood.breitbart.com (note the single L) and is then failing to load because that’s an invalid host name.
Jake Was Hereon 06 Jan 2009 at 6:39 pm 5gmk: Same here… It’s either a glitch or somebody’s idea of a joke.
Carolynon 06 Jan 2009 at 8:17 pm 6The new site’s looking like a great site.
Still gonna miss the gun.

Dappa10on 07 Jan 2009 at 12:31 pm 8sad to see this place close.
Chaoson 07 Jan 2009 at 12:36 pm 9The new site doesn’t work. It must be a conspiracy! They’ve already silenced him!
Growltigeron 07 Jan 2009 at 12:50 pm 10Hoping some of the old gang checks in here for a few days.
I’m having trouble with Big Hollywood. (I just tried to load it, and it wouldn’t load. ?Too many hits? Don’t know).
Earlier today, I tried to post on two different articles.
Each time, I was told I was posting too quickly, to “slow down”.
Since I had never ever posted on Big Hollywood today or any other day, I naturally was/am confused.
Anybody else having trouble with the site? I’ll check back tomorrow.
So far, I’m disappointed. The first day I found DHP, I found a lot of interesting people and a lot of interesting idea and I had no trouble posting except occasionally when the black hole would get me.
OUCH. Sadder to see DHP go dark even than I thought I’d be.
Growltigeron 07 Jan 2009 at 12:53 pm 11Big Hollywood seems to have a lot of glitches.
The URLs posted above gives an error message.
Google lists it, but the page won’t load.
DAMN!
Dirty Harry please come back home. Your new house isn’t welcoming your old pals.
Cloudbusteron 07 Jan 2009 at 12:56 pm 12I’m not sure I’m going to enjoy Big Hollywood as much as this place. Dirty Harry I like. However, the honest truth is that most Hollywood people, conservative or liberal, aren’t particularly deep or inciteful. I haven’t been that impressed with what I’ve read there so far. So the idea that because Dirty Harry, one Hollywood conservative, is good then a whole bunch of them will be better just doesn’t wash.
Zundfolgeon 07 Jan 2009 at 12:57 pm 13Big Hollywood seems to be completely down now.
I wonder if tolerant liberals treated Breitbart to a DNS attack.
John McClainon 07 Jan 2009 at 12:58 pm 14I guess when the new site is down we all wander back to here…dang I had no idea I would miss this place so much.
Growltigeron 07 Jan 2009 at 1:11 pm 15Cloud, Zung and McCain are echoing my fears. We have to give Big Hollywood a chance, of course, but first day at DHP was a whole lot different for me than first day at BH.
John McClainon 07 Jan 2009 at 1:27 pm 16I agree Howltiger, I am giving BH a chance and I don’t dislike it. It was just so good here. I really don’t see why there can’t be both. There are many blogs so whats one more.
John McClainon 07 Jan 2009 at 1:30 pm 17Rush has a link on his site, his audience has taken down many sites. It’s not malicious, he plugs a site and they go see what it is about. Everyone knows what “Snapple” is because of Rush.
JDespiritoon 07 Jan 2009 at 1:43 pm 18I was afraid of a DNS attack too, but it could be legitimate traffic as well. It appears to be up now but its acting like it’s database is emptied or something. The links on the homepage might be hardcoded.
John McClainon 07 Jan 2009 at 1:46 pm 19Ok, it’s back.
winstonwolf33on 07 Jan 2009 at 2:35 pm 20I like the font here better. Their’s sucks.
bradon 07 Jan 2009 at 3:59 pm 21You guys need to go to Big Hollywood and spend a little time there.
Big Hollywood is going to be very big, it has big league success written all over it already, and it is great to see Dirty Harry’s writing among all the other interesting figures over there.
In time I think that Big Hollywood is going to have some real influence, I already feel like an army platoon being rescued by a full division.
Growltigeron 07 Jan 2009 at 7:07 pm 22I’ll go to BH, of course, but so far am unable to post. Since BH doesn’t seem to let me post, I wonder if anyone returning here saw Hugh Laurie make an ass of himself on People’s Choice. I was channel surfing and the sob had to make a crack about how “we” seem to be voting correctly this year. He said he “didn’t know who won the favorite actor eight years ago, but it had to be a double edged sword”. I had already decided I’d had enough of “House” last night when they had the graphic sex scenes between two lesbians. “House” would be an interesting topic to discuss if there still were a DHP.
Growltigeron 07 Jan 2009 at 7:16 pm 23DH
If you’re still checking out this site to see what’s happening here, Big Hollywood will not let me post. Not being paranoid, I suspect this is happening to a lot of your loyal followers.
I just tried to post a test, and the response “you’re posting comments too quickly…slow down” came up. Problem is, I hadn’t posted any comment. I got the same message earlier today when, in fact, that was the first I’d EVER tried to post on BH.
Careers with Fameon 08 Jan 2009 at 5:43 am 24Your new site looks great, I liked the design very much.
Thanks
Georgia
John McClainon 08 Jan 2009 at 10:43 am 25DH,
Big Hollywood needs big tech help. Way too many “Your posting to fast” error messages.
Growltigeron 08 Jan 2009 at 11:06 am 26In addition to the “posting too fast” messages, I had one post that just vanished. When I tried to repost, I got the old “black hole” message that it was a duplicate. Hummmmmmmm.
I miss DHP.
Templaron 08 Jan 2009 at 12:03 pm 27I wonder if Harry would let us take over this site since he no longer seems to have much interest in it.
Growltigeron 08 Jan 2009 at 12:09 pm 28I’m sure Harry doesn’t have the time to service two sites, but since Big Hollywood obviously cannot handle the traffic DH brought with him, perhaps BH could post Harry’s daily blogs here and let us loyalists have a go at it here. Most of us are more than willing to follow him to BH, but BH seems technically unable to service the hits.
Templaron 08 Jan 2009 at 12:25 pm 29I’d rather hang out here, personally. Big Hollywood just seems too… well, big.
John McClainon 08 Jan 2009 at 12:39 pm 30I am a web designer/programmer and would not mind helping at all.
Growltigeron 08 Jan 2009 at 1:07 pm 31John,
Since you’re a web designer/programmer, perhaps you can help me figure out why BH won’t let me post. I keep getting the “you’re posting too fast; slow down” message even though I’ve not (in the first instance, NEVER) posted there before. Secondly, the one post it let go through, it ate. What’s going on. I’m no computer expert, so it may be something I’m doing wrong. Any ideas. I’ve emailed them and all I get back is a “you’ve contacted us” note — which, since I contacted them, I already knew. Duh.
John McClainon 08 Jan 2009 at 1:10 pm 32What I did was wait about ten min or so to see if any other posts came through recently. When I saw one that came through about 5 min before I tried it and it worked. Without access to the source, I am in the same situation as you. I am guessing they are working on the problem.
Growltigeron 08 Jan 2009 at 1:21 pm 33John,
Just got another “you’re posting too quickly message” even tho’ this is the first time I’ve tried to post there today.
Don’t want to jump to conclusions but if I were a conspirator theorist, I’d say BH shut DH down in order to shut DH down
John McClainon 08 Jan 2009 at 1:30 pm 34I see allot from DH posters so it’s not working too well if that is the case. When was the last time a post made it to the one you want to post to?
Growltigeron 08 Jan 2009 at 1:43 pm 35I’ve been unable to post anything there. I always get the “you’re posting to fast; slow down” message.
John McClainon 08 Jan 2009 at 2:00 pm 36Hopefully DH knows about it.
Dirty Harryon 08 Jan 2009 at 3:37 pm 37Hello:
Growing pains.
There’s a feedback and contact link at BH. Let us know through that. It goes straight to our tech folks.
Sorry for the trouble. We are aware of it and working on it.
And it’s nice to see you all over there.
Growltigeron 08 Jan 2009 at 7:09 pm 38Glad to know DH’s still around. This was one great site; sorry to see it go, but glad for DH if the move is to his benefit.
Am able to post from spouse’s computer, but so far not from mine. Maybe it’s something to do with my Thunderbird program which decides periodically to forbid sites. Any ideas, John McClain?
John Drakeon 08 Jan 2009 at 8:59 pm 39I didn’t comment here much, but I liked this site, and will miss it.
It was the third site I visited each day, right after Drudge and Instapundit.
John McClainon 09 Jan 2009 at 5:15 am 40Growltiger,
I would try using the same program on your spouse’s computer. I would use Firefox or IE. That should work.
Traffic Cop Timmyon 09 Jan 2009 at 8:41 am 41In case anyone is still prowling around over here, I sent in my BH “issues” about the posting problems and as of this hour it appears to have been somewhat fixed.
I was getting the same message even when posting on dif threads and when I clicked the Back button it would refresh the page and lose all my comments and my email info. I was able to keep the info the last time and it took my post after three tries.
Keep contacting them through BH with any issues. They seem to be responding.
John McClainon 09 Jan 2009 at 3:00 pm 42DH,
I hope you see this, it may help
John
If you run WordPress on a server that uses any proxy or caching system, you might find yourself with a confused WordPress flood control system.
You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down.
To WordPress, on some servers, every user looks like they are coming from the same IP. So what’s the solution? Well, I would recommend downloading a more complex flood protection plugin then the built in WP version.
If you want to hack your own solution, look in the file comments.php and modify this code:
$flood_die = apply_filters(’comment_flood_filter’, false, $time_lastcomment, $time_newcomment);
if ( $flood_die ) {
do_action(’comment_flood_trigger’, $time_lastcomment, $time_newcomment);
wp_die( __(’You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down.’) );
}
}
Growltigeron 10 Jan 2009 at 5:52 am 43I think John McClain has figured out the problem with BH (at least in my case). I have never gotten anything but the “slow down, you’re posting too fast” message from THIS computer.
Using spouse’s computer, however, I can post, albeit it is very slow in coming up. It’s hard from me (a non tech wizard) to think that one computer (mine) uses one IP address and the other computer (spouse’s) uses another — is that possible?
We go through the same router and modem. Neither has wireless.
Cloudbusteron 11 Jan 2009 at 10:04 am 44Whee, shiny new “conservative” Big Hollyweird already has two articles up about how there needs to be more sex and drugs in our childrens’ programming. WTF?

Growltigeron 11 Jan 2009 at 10:38 am 45DHP was a must see each a.m. when I booted up. BH not so much. Even if I could post there — haven’t tried in a couple of days, but doubt the problem has been fixed — I haven’t seen much that I wanted to comment on. With DHP, I was beginning to worry I was spending too much time on the Web. No such fears with BH. I doubt I’ll even check it out most days. Wish I had better things to say about it…the idea seems great. If my tin foil hat weren’t rusty, I’d say maybe BH was a way to silence voices at DHP.
Cloudbusteron 11 Jan 2009 at 11:27 am 46With so many voices at Big Hollyweird, it’s hard to have any kind of unified voice or vision. And apparently if you live in Hollywood and aren’t an America-hating Communist who spits on pictures of Bushitler, you think that must mean you’re a conservative. I guess it’s relative. To us out here in flyover country the mere absence of the worst symptoms of liberal insanity is not sufficient to represent actual conservatism.
gnon 11 Jan 2009 at 2:25 pm 47They should call it “small print” instead of “Big Hollywood.” I skim it, but it’s just not worth the aggravation. At least have “printer friendly” pop-ups if you’re gonna have that microscopic print.
Growltigeron 12 Jan 2009 at 12:20 pm 48Still trying to post, still “posting comments too quickly” even when I haven’t posted any. I’m about done over there. It doesn’t appear to be that interesting a site anyway; not like DHP was.
Growltigeron 14 Jan 2009 at 1:29 pm 49To their credit, they seem to have gotten it fixed.
Cloudbusteron 22 Jan 2009 at 10:25 am 50Sigh. If this site were still up, a bunch of us would be furiously decrying the gall of the Academy to stiff Mr. Eastwood across-the-board on Gran Torino.
Growltigeron 22 Jan 2009 at 2:10 pm 51Like you, Cloudbuster, I still check out the site in the hopes that Dirty Harry will come back to us. I enjoy Big Hollywood, and think it’s a great site, but there’s just not enough Nolte over there. I enjoy his insights on old movies, but just as much I want to read his reviews on new movies. I want to know before I plunk down my ten bucks whether I’m going to be propagandized or entertained. DH, if you check out your old haunt, please consider coming back. We can do both DHP AND Big Hollywood.
John McClainon 28 Jan 2009 at 10:34 am 52Yeah, what she said. I am even willing to help.
winstonwolf33on 28 Aug 2010 at 1:57 pm 53I don’t care what anyone says. I still think Growltiger is a whiny, little bitch!
